Over the last several weeks, it’s become clear that the world is facing an unprecedented challenge created by the COVID-19 pandemic. Like you, we are deeply concerned and want to do what we can to help keep our communities and our families safe and healthy. We take our responsibility to our patients, our teams, and our partners very seriously. On behalf of Associates in Gastroenterology, we wanted to let you know how we are responding to the situation at our offices.
The preparedness plan that we have instituted is based on the published recommendations by the Centers for Disease Control, the Virginia Department of Health, and the American Society of Gastroenterological Endoscopy. We are striving to maintain a healthy environment for all of our patients and staff. We will continue to communicate with you in a timely manner so you can continue to seek our medical assistance with confidence.
Here’s our current plan:
- We are calling all patients prior to their scheduled appointments and assessing their risk level using a questionnaire based on recommendations by the CDC. Any patients that are deemed to be a moderate to high risk are being rescheduled. Patients who are low risk are asked to wear a mask for the duration of their time in the facility.
- We are reducing the number of appointments per hour to reduce the number of patients in the waiting room and if the number of patients in the waiting area exceeds 10, we are asking patients to wait in their car to be called in by phone once their exam room is ready.
- All exam and procedure rooms are sterilized thoroughly using medical grade wipes and detergents between patients.
- We are cancelling some of our endoscopic procedure days to allow a deep cleaning and sterilization of all procedure areas and equipment in addition to the usual decontamination precautions taken between patients.
Associates in Gastroenterology cares deeply about our patients and their families. We strive to continue to provide the medical care necessary to our patients while also keeping the safety of our patients and the community at the forefront of our concerns. Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions!
